Caramel Apple Cider

Stirred up a batch of this in the slow cooker for the work family today...thought I'd share in case you'd like some too!

4 cups of Apple Cider
*1 cup brown sugar
*1 tablespoon of whole cloves
*1/2 teaspoon of whole allspice
*8 small cinnamon sticks
Caramel topping (to taste...start with 1 cup and add more as desired)
Canned whipped topping

*These items can be combined ahead of time to make your own homemade spiced cider blend. Use it with any combination of 4 cups of apple and/or cranberry juice for a warm spiced beverage year round.

GIFTABLE!  Toss the Spiced Cider Blend into a bag or basket with the cider and caramel and bring as a host gift.

Time to pull it all together!

Pour the cider into your slow cooker and add the caramel topping.

Toss in the *spiced cider blend and stir to blend.

Turn the cooker on high and let cook slowly for a couple of hours...or put on low and let it steep all day.  OR...if you are in a hurry and need some of this contentment in a cup as soon as possible, you can always put this on the stove top, bring to a simmer for about 5 minutes and enjoy.  (then you can put it into the slow cooker on low or warm for the rest of the day so it will be ready when you want it)

Of course, you could ladel a portion of this Caramel Apple Cider into a mug and drink just as it is.  It really is good just that way. But why not kick it up a notch and make it coffee house competitive!!

Top your warm cup of cider with canned whipped cream

Now drizzle with some more of that creamy caramel topping
