Basic White Sauce

Ingredients
2/3 cup Basic White Sauce Blend
2 tablespoons butter
2 ½ cups water

Directions
  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan. Cook on medium-high heat, stirring constantly until sauce begins to boil.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer on low for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Sauce will continue to thicken as it cooks. Add additional water as necessary to reach desired consistency.
  3. Season to taste with salt, pepper and/or other seasonings. Serve over meat, vegetables, pasta or rice.

Yields: 3 cups

This sauce is the starting point for a variety of sauces. Make a double batch to you can use one as a sauce for today's meal and the second batch can be dinner tomorrow using one of the options listed below:

Add the following ingredients after sauce has reached desired consistency (after step 2 in basic recipe)
¾ cup grated parmesan cheese 
¼   teaspoon white pepper, optional 
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder 
SERVE OVER PASTA OF CHOICE

Add the following ingredient  after sauce has reached desired consistency (after step 2 in basic recipe)
2 cups shredded cheddar.  Stir until all cheese has melted into sauce
SERVE OVER STEAMED VEGETABLES

Add the following ingredient at the same time you add other ingredients in step one of basic recipe:
3 tablespoons My Favorite Roast Seasoning Blend
SERVE OVER POTATOES OR PASTA
