Quick and Easy Spaghetti Sauce

*This recipe uses a seasoning blend (Simple Spaghetti Sauce Blend) found in the eCookbook, Mix it / Store it / Make it  ~ Entrees and Seasonings.  Click here to purchase and make the seasoning for your pantry!

5 tablespoons Simple Spaghetti Sauce Blend (or one single use blend recipe)
6 oz can tomato paste
15 oz can tomato sauce*
2 cups water
1 pound ground beef, cooked and drained

  1. In a medium sauce pot, combine all of the ingredients except the optional ground beef.
  2. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer on low for 20 minutes. If ground beef is desired, add it during the last 10 minutes of cooking time.
  3. Serve over pasta of choice
Serves 6

Place all of the ingredients except the ground beef into a slow cooker and cook on low for 4-6 hours.  Add optional ground beef during last 30 minutes of cooking time.

A 6 quart slow cooker will hold the ingredients for 4 batches of the Quick and Easy Spaghetti Sauce (minus the optional ground beef), so when using the slow cooker option, I always make 4 batches at a time.  By the way, the bulk version of the dry seasoning blend makes exactly 4 batches of the Quick and Easy Spaghetti sauce, so keep that in mind when stocking up your pantry!

Once you have made the 4 batches of the slow cooker recipe without the meat, remove 4 cups for dinner tonight.  If you want ground beef in your sauce, put the removed portion into a pot and heat with the precooked ground beef before serving.
When the remaining sauce has cooled, scoop 4 cup portions into sealable freezer bags, label as ‘spaghetti sauce’, write the date and freeze them for use in future recipes. NOTE: few recipes in the meal trail listed below call for less than 4 cups of sauce.  To be prepared, consider bagging one batch in 1 cup portions.

This sauce is the base for a long list of great recipes you will find on this blog.  Keeping a supply in the freezer will make these meal options faster and easier on any night of the week!
