About the Blends

The recipes published on this blog typically feature one or more of
my favorite homemade blends
in the ingredient list.
The recipes for these blends can be found
in my series of eCookbooks.

The eCookbook series features recipes for seasoning and baking blends that I have created over the years and have used to make my family meals easy to prepare, affordable and taste great.

For 14 years I sold them as package products
through a company I started called
Homemade Gourmet
(story linked here)
Now I am sharing those recipes through a series of Ecookbooks
so you can make them quickly and on a budget for your home pantry.

There are many benefits to making these
homemade blends for your pantry.

  • VALUE / SAVINGS:  The recipes for the blends feature 2 options.  Make them as individual blends to be used for one recipe OR make them in bulk to store and use on a daily / weekly basis in a variety of ways.  When you choose to make your favorites in the bulk size, you can get the ingredients from your local warehouse store and save money.  Purchasing herbs and spices in bulk offers substantial savings.
  • QUALITY / FRESHNESS: One of the greatest benefits of making anything 'homemade' is the control you have over the ingredients that go into your family meals.  By stocking your pantry with homemade seasoning blends, you get to decide if you want to use organic herbs or spices, name brand or store brand, and, you can control the freshness of your blends by choosing larger or smaller blend recipes according to how often you use them.

  1. Tami,

I have had so much fun assembling and using several of the blends. The roast seasoning is my absolute favorite! I used it to coat some thick pork chops last night and it was wonderful. My only suggestion should anyone want to try it on chops is to add it to an equal amount of bread crumbs, as the salt was a bit too much for coating. But we DID manage to devour all of the chops at one sitting!

    1. So glad you are making use of the cookbook Vickie! Roast is also one of my favorites (thus the name!) and you are correct...to make it a breading it definitely needs bread crumbs. Next time you want to do chops, try adding some cream of mushroom soup and either slow cook or simmer on the stove top. Look for smothered pork chops using the search tool on the top right side of the blog...it will take you right to one of our family favorite recipes! Thanks so much for stopping by to share!

  3. Tami!

Thank you thank you for sharing your recipes! I am a former director with your Homemade Gourmet company (so was my sister Tricia Braunersrither) and I absolutely love your mixes! Grandmother's Sunday Roast is our favorite. I've been trying to duplicate your sweet bread mix for years and I am so excited to have that recipe--along with so many others. If you don't mind I'd like to advertise your ecookbooks on my family blog. I have many former customers who read it and would love to have the recipes. Happy Birthday and thanks again! 6. One more Thank You for sharing your recipes and this blog. I just found this site and I'm thrilled to be able to make these for my family. Thank you Tami! We loved the HG cornbread, tortilla soup, cheesecake dips and those cran-orange cookies (don't even get me started -- yum!). As a former distributor, I wanted you to know that I appreciate the meal planning strategies I learned from your system. Thank you again for building that business, working on this site and especially thank you for making the recipes avalible.
